Our service is designed to seamlessly integrate with your existing RTMP and RTSP workflow. All you have to do is change your connection configuration: Rather than connecting with your Flash target server, you’ll connect to our Ultra Low Latency Service.

What Will Change When I Adopt This Flash Replacement?

When you adopt the new service, there are two important components of your workflow that will change:

Your cloud, content delivery network (CDN) or other network. The Wowza Ultra Low Latency Service is a part of the Wowza Streaming Cloud platform, and dynamically scales for global delivery. The network automatically adjusts, providing the proper amount of bandwidth to reach your viewers.

Not only does our service provide an ultra low latency stream, it also delivers traditional HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) streams. The HLS stream can be delivered to a CDN for additional redundancy and scale; however, keep in mind that using a CDN will inherently increase end-to-end latency.

The player you use. If you’re using a Flash-based player, you’ll need to replace it. For playback from the Wowza Ultra Low Latency Service, compatible players will need to support WOWZ™ or HLS protocols—and WOWZ is required for sub-two-second end-to-end latency.

While many players support HLS playback, Wowza GoCoder SDK support both HLS and WOWZ protocols.

In addition to Wowza GoCoder SDK-based applications, we will continue working with other player providers to enable support for WOWZ playback.
